{"id":585,"date":"2022-01-12T14:46:47","date_gmt":"2022-01-12T14:46:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/krista.longeway.ca\/?p=585"},"modified":"2022-01-15T14:28:38","modified_gmt":"2022-01-15T14:28:38","slug":"until-the-sun-comes-out-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krista.longeway.ca\/?p=585","title":{"rendered":"Until the Sun Comes out Again"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"681\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/krista.longeway.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Dance-in-the-rain-e1641998043489-681x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-581\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">It is interesting to me how a single event can change how we look at our world.&nbsp; Sometimes one small change can overshadow all the good that is in our lives\u2026 if we allow it. I am not a person who adjusts easily to change.&nbsp; I get attached\u2026 to people, to routines, to the comfort of the familiar.&nbsp; And I fear what is to come next.&nbsp; I always wonder\u2026 Am I strong enough to move forward into this new season and adapt to the changes that come?&nbsp; But then I ask myself\u2026 Am I truly this fragile? And I make myself stop and remember how hard I have worked to get to where I am\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Like an artist, carefully choosing the colours for their painting, or like a builder who constructs a wall brick-by-brick, filling in the cracks as they go along, day by day I have carefully designed a \u201cself\u201d that is strong and resilient.\u00a0 It is not luck, or chance, or perfect circumstances that have brought me this far.\u00a0 I work hard to be strong and courageous amidst the storms of life.\u00a0 And I know that it is normal to feel sadness and loss.\u00a0 Without these things, we cannot appreciate joy and happiness.\u00a0 No matter how keenly we feel it in the moment, eventually the pain will pass.\u00a0 So instead of worrying\u2026 instead of fearing the future\u2026 I choose to dance in the rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse has-black-color has-text-color\"><strong>Until the Sun Comes out Again<\/strong>\r\n\rBy Krista Longeway\n\nHow is it\r\nthat one event can change the course of our lives?\r\nHow is it\r\nthat a sunny day can so quickly turn to clouds and darkness?\r\nOne event\u2026\r\nsame life, same place, same day\r\nyet suddenly all is overshadowed \r\nand the hope and strength that we felt so deeply\r\nis replaced by darkness?\r\nHow can we be so fragile?\r\nYet the everchanging weather of our existence\r\ncan shift from sun to clouds and back again\r\nin the blink of an eye.\r\nSo here we are, gasping for breath,\r\ndesperately reaching out for something to hold onto.\r\nBut then\u2026\r\nI stop fighting the darkness.\r\nThis is what it is to be human.\r\nThis is what it is to feel hurt and sadness.\r\nIt\u2019s okay for me to feel pain in this season.\r\nFor I know that life will shift again\r\nand the sun will come up\r\njust as brilliantly as before\r\nand I will find hope, and love, and kindness in the world.\r\nI am strong and courageous.\r\nI will dance in the rain until the sun comes out again.\r\n\r\n<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is interesting to me how a single event can change how we look at our world.&nbsp; Sometimes one small change can overshadow all the good that is in our lives\u2026 if we allow it.
