When I think of her, I think of all the times we sat down, side-by-side and just talked.\u00a0 She is, without a doubt, the best listener I know.\u00a0 She has a way of making you feel like nothing matters more than that conversation and what you have to say.\u00a0 It is a gift.\u00a0 Most people I know either want to \u201cfix\u201d what\u2019s wrong or they have an overwhelming need to change the topic and talk about themselves.\u00a0 My sister always knows just what to say in order to help me reflect on what really matters to me.\u00a0 And, as the poem says, it helps me to clarify my own thinking and it heals my heart. I think that there is no greater gift that you can give someone than to just listen\u2026really listen\u2026 to what they have to say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse has-black-color has-text-color\"><strong>Sit Beside Me<\/strong>\r\nBy Krista Longeway\r\n\r\nSit beside me for a while\r\nAnd we\u2019ll talk as the as the cool wind blows;\r\nOf hopes and dreams and future plans\r\nAnd things that no one else knows.\r\n\r\nSit beside me for a while\r\nAnd we\u2019ll share of our deepest thoughts;\r\nFor who understands the way you do\r\nThe battles that I have fought.\r\n\r\nSit beside me for a while\r\nAnd I\u2019ll lend a listening ear;\r\nFor, at times, we all need to share \r\nOf the things we hold most dear.\r\n\r\nSit beside me for a while\r\nAnd we will talk again one day;\r\nFor it clears my mind and heals my heart\r\nAnd it takes the pain away.\r\n<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My sister asked me to write her a poem.
