{"id":755,"date":"2022-09-04T13:58:46","date_gmt":"2022-09-04T13:58:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/krista.longeway.ca\/?p=755"},"modified":"2024-07-01T16:41:52","modified_gmt":"2024-07-01T16:41:52","slug":"the-flight-of-the-sparrow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krista.longeway.ca\/?p=755","title":{"rendered":"The Flight of the Sparrow"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/krista.longeway.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Song-Sparrow-1-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-757\" width=\"818\" height=\"818\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">I have a birdfeeder just outside my front window where I love to sit and watch the sparrows.&nbsp; They can see my movement through the glass and are so timid that I have to sit very still before they are willing to venture out of their hiding place and fly up to the feeder to eat the seeds.&nbsp; Most days, I barely have a moment to snap a picture before they are gone again.&nbsp; Although they are common in this area, they are such a welcome sight and I always feel like I have been given a gift whenever they come to visit.&nbsp; I think there are many things like this in our lives \u2013 gifts that are so common it is easy to take them for granted.&nbsp; Yet when we focus on them, our lives are enriched and we are filled with gratitude.&nbsp; What are some of these little blessings that enrich your life?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse has-text-align-center has-white-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"background-color:#076e05\"><strong>The Flight of the Sparrow<\/strong>\nBy Krista Longeway\n\nA little song sparrow timidly hides\nAmongst the tree\u2019s greenery on all sides.\nShe peeks out then retreats into shadows, \nA leafy shelter that only she knows.\nI listen carefully to hear her song.\nEach happy note ringing out, clear and strong.\nShe tilts her head in a questioning way,\nAs summer breezes make the branches sway.\nHer eyes are like shiny black beads of glass,\nCarefully watching to see what will pass.\nIf all is quiet, she finally might\nDecide to emerge into full sunlight. \nShe patiently waits here until she knows,\nThat each sound is only the wind that blows.\nThen with one brave leap, she leaves the branches.\nInto the air she gracefully dances,\nFar above the branches from which she clings,\nShe flutters her delicate feathered wings.\nI know when she sees me she will not stay.\nThe smallest movement and she flies away, \nFor freedom is her greatest desire.\nShe soars in an arc, higher and higher \nInto the sky, far beyond the clearing,\nHer tiny form slowly disappearing.\nI watch all this with wonder and delight.\nWhat a simple gift to witness her flight.\n\n<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have a birdfeeder just outside my front window where I love to sit and watch the sparrows.&nbsp; They can see my movement through the glass and are so timid that I have to sit very still before they are willing to venture out of their hiding place and fly up to the feeder to [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"off","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[1,6,15,18],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-755","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized","category-quiet-reflection","category-summer","category-the-garden"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.4 -
