Whenever I visited friends in the evening and had to walk home in the dark, I imagined all sorts of things waiting to jump out at me from the bushes.\u00a0 As the years have passed, I have discovered that sometimes the paths of life can be much like that long walk home in the dark\u2026life can be hard, it can be scary, and at times, we don\u2019t know what lies around the corner.\u00a0 Although there are many good and beautiful things in my life, I have discovered that life isn\u2019t a fairy tale in which we just grow up and live \u201chappily ever after\u201d.\u00a0 Rather, life is a series of ups and downs.\u00a0 We experience joy and laughter along with disappointment and sadness&#8230; and along the way we discover that living our lives with hope requires bravery and persistence.\u00a0 Even when we are walking through the darkest valleys, we can choose to hold onto hope that we will be okay and things will get better.\u00a0 We can choose to focus on the good things in our lives with gratitude for what they bring.\u00a0 Over time, we see that when we act with bravery, and when we hold onto hope, the sun does come out again.\u00a0 We find joy again and a new appreciation for the good things in life\u2026sometimes it just takes time, and the bravery to take the next step even when we don\u2019t yet know where the path will lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse has-text-align-center has-black-color has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color has-text-color has-background\">\n<strong>\nBravery<\/strong>\r\n-Krista Longeway\r\n\r\nI walk along a winding path\r\nNever quite knowing where it leads\r\nThrough lush gardens bright with flowers\r\nAnd along ditches choked with weeds\r\n\r\nI walk over hills and valleys\r\nThrough brilliant sun and bitter rain\r\nNever knowing who I will meet\r\nOr when I\u2019ll see their face again\r\n\r\nBut my life moves ever forward\r\nSo I take one step at a time\r\nFor I know I must keep walking\r\nThough it can be an uphill climb\r\n\r\nBravery is not in knowing\r\nWhere my path goes or what I\u2019ll see\r\nIt is in taking the next step\r\nNo matter what\u2019s ahead of me\r\n\r\n<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As a child, I was afraid of the dark.
