I love the fall season, with its colourful display on a sunny day. The vast array of colours, from yellow to crimson then fading to brown. I love the musty smell of the leaves as they crunch underfoot. It brings to mind many fond memories of raking fall leaves into giant piles and jumping in them with my siblings, and in later days, with my own children. I have sweet memories of going on drives in the country with my parents, just to admire the aspen poplars in the fall. I remember going for fall walks and watching as the leaves fall from the trees around me, raining gently down to settle quietly on the ground at my feet. Fall can be just as beautiful as springtime with its own sights and smells. Each time I hear the wild geese call and look up to see them flying in their V formation, I imagine them announcing to the world that fall is truly upon us.
Announcing to All that it is Fall By Krista Longeway Summer’s gentle kiss sets all the leaves free Turning crimson and gold upon the tree And when the fall winds start to sigh and blow Each little leaf knows it is time to go The soft breath of the wind making them fly They wave and dance, cascading from the sky They twirl in the wind then float to the ground Then rest below without making a sound Their faint musty smell wafts in on the breeze And they crunch underfoot beneath the trees While up high overhead the wild geese call Now announcing to all that it is fall
