
Ephesians 3:20-21
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
There have been many times in my life where I have wondered if what I do makes a difference in this world. After all, I am only one person, going about my day in my one small corner of the world. Yet, just as a pebble cast into a pond makes many ripples, so too do our actions have an effect on the world. Each choice that we make, each thing that we do and word that we say, effects those around us. Then, in turn, their words and actions effect those around them, and on it goes. Even a simple smile or a kind word can affect someone’s day in a meaningful way and get passed on to others throughout the day. Then think how much greater is God’s power to take the things that we say and do and use them for his loving purposes. The Bible says that God is “able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine”. And so we can trust that God can take these small acts and amplify their effects so that they ripple out into the world in a positive way.

Be assured that in time The stone that you cast Into the waters of life Will create many ripples. That somewhere far away On a distant shore These waves wash up And brush the toes of a child Or water the roots of a tree Or guide a boat to shore. So pick up a pebble And cast it into the sea of life You never know how far the ripples will travel.
