John 16:33

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.  In the world you will have tribulation.  But take heart; I have overcome the world.

What do you struggle to overcome in your life? The difficulties of this life are many. Though the problems may change with the stages of our lives, there is always something to worry about. At some point in our lives, we are all faced with times of illness, sadness, or despair. We live in a fallen world and so it is inevitable that we will face difficulties during our time here on earth. Yet through Jesus there is always hope. Jesus offers us words of encouragement and an inner peace that is like nothing the world can provide. This peace comes freely to us when we humble ourselves before the Lord and offer ourselves up in prayer. During these moments, God draws near to us and whispers in our hearts the words we need to hear: “I am your God and you are my precious child. I will always be with you anytime you call my name. Have hope and trust that I have overcome the world.”

Overcoming

Though the world can bring you worries and fears,
Cast aside these worries and dry your tears.
Jesus gives us words of encouragement,
And an inner peace that is heaven sent;
A peace like nothing the world can provide.
Knowing the God of love is by your side,
Hold your hands up high in a heart-felt prayer.
Trust God’s ways and know that He’s always there.
So it is time for you to make the choice
To listen for God’s still and quiet voice.
It’s whispering in your heart, telling you
These gentle words that are loving and true:
“Trust that I am your God and you are mine
And I will be by your side every time
That you humble yourself and call my name.
You will find it will always be the same
For I have overcome the world and I
Will always rule over the earth and sky.”
