One year ago today my dear mom passed away. Sometimes, there are few words that can bring comfort when someone you love passes on. Yet through the haze of my grief, there were a few that stayed with me. One such quote is this: “Little by little we begin to remember, not that she died, but that she lived.” As the months have gone by, and the pain of grief has subsided, I have found that these words have rung true for me. Little by little the pain is replaced by joyful memories of a mom who lived her life with kindness and love for others. Despite her absence, my memories keep my mom alive, and in this way, she will stay with me forevermore.
Little By Little
Little by little, the grief will subside
And I’ll begin to forget how she died
Instead, I’ll remember a life full of
Many joyful moments, kindness, and love
Little by little, grief is overcome
By the sweet memories of my dear mom
I see her in so many little things
In all the happenings that each day brings
Little by little, joy slowly seeps in
Until soon I am ready to begin
To live life almost as I did before
While remembering my mom forevermore
