Matthew 11:28

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Sometimes at the end of a long day I find a quiet place with wide open skies and I pause to watch the sunset.  As the glorious colours fade to night I am reminded that God has created this time and place. Like a tree drawing nourishment from the earth I draw strength from God’s beautiful creation.  I drink in the peace of this place and draw nourishment from the beauty of the earth.  I feel God’s powerful presence in nature and I find that when I rest in God in this way, I find peace for my weary soul. If you feel weary and heavy laden, if you feel weighed down by the worries of this life, take the time to pause in your busy day and rest in the Lord.  For you will find that there is peace and comfort in His presence that you will find nowhere else.

It is the end of the day and dusk draws nigh
And the sun sinks slowly in a crimson sky
I pause in this place to rest in the stillness
As the breeze brushes by like a gentle kiss
It whispers through the leaves on a tree nearby
While the stars come out in the darkening sky
Though I am weary at the end of this day
I rest in you Lord, for even now I can say
You are my greatest strength and my guide always
You are the one true God who I want to praise
You are the only real comfort that I know
Like a tree reaching deep in the earth below
I draw strength from your powerful presence here
And pleasure from this peaceful place I hold dear
