Finding Me

by | Oct 11, 2021

This blog started as a collection of journal entries…I collected little bits of inspiration from things I read, songs I heard, and the poems that came to me in times of quiet reflection.  I was searching for a piece of me that had gone missing, and I needed to focus on the good things in my life.  For, no matter who you are, I’m sure by now you have discovered that life is messy.  Between parenting and work and all the busyness of life, I had lost my “self” in the mess.  So gathered here on these pages are some of the bits and pieces that came to me as I rediscovered who that inner “self” really is.  In the process I learned that I was still there, underneath all that mess…and I learned that some of the things that I find beautiful and inspirational can also be an inspiration to others.

I encourage you, as you go from this place, to take some quiet time alone and reconnect with the “self” that is within you.  Perhaps, like me, you will discover that it isn’t as hard to find as you had imagined.

The following poem describes a distinct moment for me where, in a time of quiet reflection, I rediscovered who I am. Being out in nature has a way of reminding me what is really important in my life and who I want to be…

               Finding Me
      By Krista Longeway

Dappled sunlight filters down
Through the leafy boughs of green,
Dancing shadows all around
Nature’s orchestra unseen.

As the wind plays in the trees
The leaves begin to whisper,
Singing ancient melodies
The dancing leaves remember.

Somehow the light and shadow,
And the wind amongst the trees
Remind me of what I know
Somewhere deep inside of me.

Although no word was spoken
In this quiet reverie
My heart has now awoken
And I finally find me.
