Meaning is Found Between

by | Jan 23, 2022

When I started writing this poem, I titled it “truth”.  But then, when I went back to reread it, I realised that I could just have easily titled it “peace” or “wisdom” or “inspiration” or another meaning-filled concept that we spend our lives searching for. Regardless of what piece of meaning we are looking for, I believe it can be found most easily in the quiet moments that we spend in nature.  You can hear it in the wind and see it in the sky.  You can feel it in the rhythm of the waves on the shore and the and the warmth of the sun as it shines on your face. It is hinted at in the music that speaks to your soul and in the relationships that make up the fabric of your life.  Simply put, it is found in the beauty that is around us and within us. The things that are most simple in life can also be what are most meaningful and important. When you have a few moments, I encourage you to find a quiet place to pause and reflect, where you can find the truth and meaning that speaks to your soul.

Between
By Krista Longeway

The meaning that you seek can be found
somewhere between the warmth of a sunbeam
and the cool breeze that blows in off the sea . . .
Somewhere between the quiet hum of the bumble bee
and the rustling of the leaves as they whisper songs as old as time . . .
Somewhere between the smell of damp earth after a spring rain
and the silence of a fresh snowfall on a cold winter’s morning . . .
Somewhere between the first crimson rays in a sunrise
and the glow of moonlight reflected in the water on a starry night . . .
Somewhere between the first notes of your favourite song
and the feeling of comfort when walking by the side of a close companion . . .
It is found in the space that forms
in between that which is beautifully simple
and that which is deeply significant . . .
It is found between.
