There is Music

by | Feb 2, 2022

Sometimes when I go outside, I find a place to sit, close my eyes, and just listen.  There is a vast soundscape in nature that I find most noticeable when I turn off all my other senses and focus deeply on what I hear.  In every moment of the day, in every season, nature sings a song that speaks to our soul and creates a rhythm in tune with our hearts. It is in the soft rustling of the leaves on a windy day, in the sound of water flowing over rocks in a stream, in the sound of the wind blowing through fields of grain, and in the rhythm of the waves upon the shore. The songs change over the course of the day.  It is in the bird’s cheerful song in the morning and in the cricket’s song at night.  It changes with the weather and with the seasons.  It is in the howling of stormy winter winds and in the gentle pattering of raindrops in the spring.  This music is everywhere, all the time.  All we have to do is step outside and listen…

There is Music
By Krista Longeway

There is music in the air…
It is nature’s whispered prayer
I wonder, do you hear it
Calling softly to your spirit?

There is music everywhere
If we listen with great care
There is music in the breeze
Blowing softly through the trees
In the sound of water’s flow
Over smooth stones down below

There is music all day long
Like a never-ending song
In the rising of the sun
And the setting when day’s done
In the call of birds in flight
And the cricket’s song at night

Music plays in every season
Nature does not need a reason
In the midst of winter’s storm
On a sunny summer morn
In the autumn fields of grain
And within a springtime rain

This sweet music is a part
Of the rhythm of your heart
Like the waves upon the shore
There is music evermore…

Taking time to listen and open all your senses; living in the moment is a precious gift that is always available.
