I wrote this poem for a dear friend who I have known for many years. I feel blessed to have known her all this time. For, as much as life has changed throughout the years, we have managed to maintain a connection that has lasted through it all. What is amazing to me about a true, lasting friendship, is that no matter how much time has passed, whenever you see each other you can just pick up where you left off. With these friendships, you don’t need to be a part of every aspect of their life in order to know what they are going through – you understand their thoughts and feelings without them having to explain. And whether you bridge the gap of time and distance in person, over the phone, or through a letter, you know that they will be there for you anytime that you need them. This poem is dedicated to those faithful few who know my true heart and have trusted me with theirs.
Friendship By Krista Longeway In life we all travel our own journey, Each following our own winding pathway That twists and turns throughout hill and valley, With skies sometimes sunny and sometimes gray. Your path and mine have crossed many a time In different places throughout the years. There were times when your path ran beside mine, We walked side by side and were always near. Yet life often changes in unforeseen ways, Its journey not one we can fully plan. And paths have a way of drifting some days, Then crossing again far from where we began. And even though distance may separate One meandering path from another, There are always ways that we can create A bridge reaching from one to the other. Anytime you are in need of a friend, A listening ear or encouraging smile, I can always be found around the bend Even if it has been a long while. For in this life we have both joy and strife, And sometimes you and I live far apart. Yet of all the people I know in life, I believe that you still know my true heart.
