I think that we would look at our life a little differently if we could put aside all of the events and emotions that weigh down each day and simply sit…bask in the sun’s light, from beginning to end, without a thought to anything else beyond this day. If we could take one day, and view it from the perspective of the sun, the sky, and the water, we would see how insignificant our struggles are and how vast and beautiful the sky and the earth below it. In these moments we might receive clarity of thought and pure joy in knowing that each day is new and we are blessed beyond imagining by the gifts of the earth and the sun in the sky.
This is not meant to oversimplify your life. Of course our lives are full… full to the brim with daily worries and concerns, blessings and frustrations. But sometimes I think we place a little too much importance on these things. Nature has a way of reminding us that regardless of what is going on in our lives, the sun will rise in all it’s glory, the day will continue, and eventually night and a time of rest will follow. So I encourage you to pause in your busy life for a short time and look at the world through new eyes. See the beauty and the simplicity that nature provides all around you. Find ways to invite this simplicity into your everyday life. I find that this can help to calm down the busyness of life and put these things into perspective.
Sun’s Journey By Krista Longeway It begins with streaks of orange and hints of pink peeking over the horizon, then spreading across the sky to reveal the deep blue beneath, filling the whole world with light. As it rises it brings forth the warm smells of sea and sand, of green growing things and warm earth. It sits at midday, clouds pass by, then blow away in wisps of white, leaving the sky clear, it’s deep blue fading to mist where it touches the distant mountains and the water beyond. Birds, silhouetted against the sky, call to one another as they ride the currents of the wind. Below, waves crash against the rocks, trees dance in the breeze, and the day moves forward without a care in the world other than the journey from east to west. Slowly, as the sun makes its way across the sky, the shadows become longer and an orange glow fills the air. A last greeting before it melts into the horizon again. In a burst of colour, it sinks towards the water until it is gone and the stars come out in its place, promising another new day is on the way.
