What do you know to be true?  Deep in your heart, what are you certain of? In a world filled with uncertainty, what is the rock you build your life upon? These truths make up the core values that we teach our children.  So, if you were to teach them only one thing, what would that be?  My answer to this question is this: I would teach my children that they are cared for by a loving God.  All the goodness, kindness, and love that is within us is rooted in this one simple truth. And in response, we love our God. And I hope that in knowing this to be true, my children are inspired to love others.  This is, after all, what Jesus called us to do.  It is the heart of Christianity and told throughout the New Testament… a call to love God and to love one another.

One Simple Truth

You are loved

By a faithful God who knows your true heart

He has been right beside you from the start

He has loved and guided you as you grew

To be more than you ever planned or knew

You are loved

So, with thanks, we return this love in kind

By loving God with heart, soul, strength and mind

Wherever we go he is never far

So we love our God with all that we are

You are loved

Through this we are inspired to love others

All our neighbors, friends, sisters, and brothers

We look deep inside to see what is good

And put aside what is not understood

You are loved

So whenever you meet your darkest day

At a time when all else is stripped away

I hope you always know this to be true

You are known and loved by God who made you
