When was the last time you cried out to God in a deep, heart-felt prayer? This poem describes a moment when, from deep within myself, my spirit called out… and my God answered by drawing near to me. How do I know that he was there? I felt a peace that came from outside of myself… a peace that had no explanation or reason. At that moment, I felt comforted by his presence and overwhelmed by the depth of His love. Whether in wakefulness or in sleep, I reach out to touch the deepest part of God. For he is my Saviour who sings a song of love and forgiveness, providing comfort in my struggles. So I call out to the God of my life with all that I am, singing his praises, come what may.
Deep Calls to Deep By Krista Longeway In a silent prayer, deep calls out to deep In my wakefulness and even in my sleep As my soul reaches out to the God I love His spirit washes over me from above Like the swell of waves that sweep across the sea Washing all of my sins away from me As my spirit calls out to God in this way The Lord gently directs his love by day At night the comfort of his song is with me A sweet song of love that always makes me see That throughout the night and throughout every day In all life’s circumstances, come what may The God of love is always by my side With forgiveness his arms are open wide So I put my hope in God and sing in praise To my Saviour who is gentle in his ways Whether I find myself in joy or strife I call out a prayer to the God of my life
