“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.“
Romans 8: 38-39
It is easy to fall into the trap of thinking that we must strive to be “good enough” to earn our way to heaven. After all, so many things in our life here on earth work this way. In school we are taught that we must work hard to earn good grades. In our careers we must work hard in order to get the job we want and be recognised for our skills. So many things in life are earned through hard work and perseverance. Yet the beautiful thing about grace is that we don’t have to strive towards being “good enough”. Whether we pass the next test or get the right job is irrelevant to God. God loves us just the same. It can be hard to fully wrap our minds around this. Despite the fact that we are imperfect in so many ways, in fact because of this, Jesus showed us how great his love is for us when he sacrificed himself for our sins. It is a fact that never ceases to amaze me. We are loved. Nothing can change this…
God’s Love -By Krista Longeway Nothing can separate us from God’s love No powers below nor those from above Nothing in all of the earth’s creation No king nor ruler of any nation Nothing that is found in death or in life Neither through great joy nor through pain and strife Nothing in either our past or present For this is a love that is heaven sent In this sacrificial love of Jesus Is the power that redeems and saves us
